TAKING THE BUS TO CHINA!

We woke up at 6am, finished packing, and left for the airport by the M60 bus to Laguardia at 8am. It was a weird feeling, because this is the same bus that I take to work everyday. It turns out if you take it in the other direction, you can go to China! Clark and I each had one medium sized backpack and a small day pack. It’s unbelievable that we packed so little for a 16 day trip! I was very proud of this.

We flew Air Canada, saving around $500 on our ticket. We had a 1 ½ hour flight to Toronto, which was fun for me because everything was in English and French! We had personal tvs on this plane, and watched the beginning of Blades of Glory. It was such a quick flight that we didn't get to finish it.

At 1:30 we boarded the plane to Beijing. There were so many people there, and everyone had something in common, so it was easy to start talking to others.

The plane was an Airbus 340. There were a TON of flight attendants. They just kept coming with more and more food and drink. We had dinner, snack and noodles, and breakfast. Clark and I just kept looking at each other and saying “CHINA!”

Unfortunately there were no personal tvs on this plane. We slept for around 2-3 hours around 5:00, and when we woke up, we were flying over the Northpole, above the treeline. We saw icebergs and mountains out the window. We had two seats next to each other, one aisle and one window. I was so glad to have Clark as a traveling partner, it made me feel more comfortable taking on such a big adventure!
